Wong Kee, Pudu - Siew Yoke
The object of my dreams.
The subject of my fantasies.
The reason for my constant ramblings in my drunken stupor.
Behold the siew yoke. With its crisp, thin, roasted, golden skin over layers of lean meat and fat, very much like a layer cake, it synergises into an explosion of salty porcine goodness as it instantly melts in your mouth and gets digested.
No other siew yoke (roasted pork) I've ever tasted comes close to the siew yoke at Wong Kee, and if you are willing to wait to be served and tolerate a little rudeness, you will be rewarded for your patience.
Restaurant Wong Kee
No. 30, Jalan Nyonya, Off Jalan Pudu, 55100 Kuala Lumpur
Tel: 03-2145 2512
Operating hours: 11.30am - 2.30pm (Closed on Sundays)
Note: If you want to be guaranteed of eating this delectable meal of siew yoke, do go there early as they run out of the meat way before closing time. In such cases, do check out the other foods in the area, namely Yap Hup Kee yong tau foo and Tong Kee egg tarts, all within walking distance from each other.

you know, i've been itching to make my own siew yoke at home. But i just never got to it and there don't sell sam chan yoke in the stores. What's the name of that type of pork meat in English? Is it pork belly? hmm..
Yum!I have been raving abt this place to my friends but haven't been back here for a while. Must be patient one day and go for it. Didn't know they serve roast duck as we only had the chicken the last time.
haha i only had it that day on thursday..hmmm...i always thought its good but after you get through half a plate of siew yoke..it gets really jelak..haha..

Anyway, welcome to the Iketeru gang.
Sigh, since you know my history with this place, can tah pau for me?
the expedited writer: sorry dear, dunno the name in english. Good luck in making your own siew yoke and looking forward to seeing your post on it!
boo_licious: I believe the roast duck is a new addition to the menu. The problem with asking ur friends to go is that u have to convince them to wait a looong time for the food to arrive at your table.
SWICC: I guess Henry answered your question. Also, due to the "mood lighting", it is always difficult to get good pictures there. Be prepared to do A LOT of post-editing.
jason: actually, it was the siew yoke that was expensive. I think it was RM45 for that plate.
henry: thx for helping out! Iketeru gang huh...hehehe....cool.
wmw: sure can one! But be warned that it won't taste the same when it's cold ar.

Wah your descriptions of the food is so sexually charged lah. No wonder they call it food porn, haha...
At least now I know the face of the sexy voice on the phone yesterday... ;)

jason: the tauke got PJK, u know. don't pray pray ar. also sure damn rich one.
teckiee: oh yeah, one of the greatest meats in da world!
Hmm..I'm not someone who would tolerate rudeness. Especially when I'm paying for their products/services. I can live without them.
Such an evil evil post. *having a hard time trying to shut out d mouthwatering cuts & hop to another blog*.
tankiasu: fair comment. btw, i haven't encountered rudeness, but i do know of a few ppl who have. That includes another food blogger.
tummythoz: lol! I wanna share share mah.
this is my favourite siew yoke place! thinking of it make me weak..hehe. have not been there for a long, long time, but if they dont change their siew yoke schedule (since the last time i went), they serve it at 12:30 sharp ;)
