Neroteca, KL

bottles
Sunday breakfasts are always special to me as it is the only consistent meal which the Bald Eagle and I share together. Sometimes, our time spent together is filled with animated chatter, mostly in updating each other on the latest events happening in our lives, and at other times, it is companionable silence.

I suppose I am thankful for the fact that we share a like-mindedness for good food and a desire to enjoy whatever little time with each other over a pleasant meal and quiet conversation. With these needs in mind, one will often find us at various restaurants, enjoying a lazy morning over a cup of espresso and a somewhat sinful looking meal.

neroteca
Yesterday, after church, we drove to Neroteca, an Italian restaurant, located at the Somerset Residences at Lorong Ceylon. At 10.30 in the morning, this place can be rather secluded and quiet. Which was perfect for us as we didn't want to hear the chatter of people so early in the morning.

neroteca
The restaurant is rather small, and if you wish to dine here for lunch or dinner, reservations are a must.

rivisitata
Only the breakfast menu was available at that hour, so we ordered the Rivisitata and the Tonica set. The Bald Eagle's Rivisitata came with stewed lentils and sausages, toast with cheese and scrambled eggs.

rivisitata2
The stewed lentils were a little spicy, which was great for the Bald Eagle who likes things savoury.

tonica
My Tonica breakfast came with two fried eggs with mushroom, rocket salad and parmesan cheese. I absolutely love this meal as the eggs were sufficiently fried to hold all the ingredients together, but still managed to remain a little runny.

tonica2

The eggs were generously drizzled with parmesan cheese and tasted wonderful with the buttered toast. Both meals came with coffee while mine came with a juice as well.

tiramisu
Our tiramisu was such a pleasure to eat. It was not only visually pleasing, but tasted heavenly. Probably one of the best I've tasted with its distinct layers of mascarpone cheese, cream and liqueur.

Our bill came up to RM77. A small price to pay for a little bit of happiness.

Must try the tonica breakfast the next time i'm there. Looks good! Have you been to Magnificent Fish and Chip Shop (what a mouthful!) for breakfast? Very nice too.

Wonder if I should start investing in a breakfast-only restaurant (from 5am to 3pm).

If i ever do, I will name it the Lemongrass Breakfast Club.

precious pea: can't wait to see your marmalade post...good or bad. :-P I kinda know what you mean about how the day turns out. I'm also quite affected by how day starts with the Bald Eagle.

paprika: I saw the review of Magnificent F & C Shop at Boolicious' blog, but have yet to try it. This'll be a start to a Breakfast series, and Magnificent should fit in perfectly!

henry yeo: Do it, and I'll be your biggest fan!

I love the photo of the tiramisu. Looks very dreamy ... and misty. Cool effect. On purpose or accidental ?

Lyrical Lemongrass said...

Timothy: Thanks! I love it too. I suppose it was accidental, what with all the bracketing I was doing. It helped that I had great lighting too.

Aiyoh, tiramisu for breakfast??? hahaha....looks good. Gosh, we are surrounded by good food everywhere! Help...how to have my mom's yesteryears waistline? LOL....

k.t.x said...

initially, i thot those tonica greens were spinach which would render the dish pretty italian. but it's interesting anyhow, yours and eagle's. filling?

btw, they dont sell those brass wares do they?

Dear Lyrical Lemongrass,

The decor of this restaurant looks a little like a Hip American Restaurant. Many years ago, when I introduced myself as a Malaysian, an American thought I live on trees... I wish I could show this post to that person.

My kids love homemade Tiramisu. I cut down on the sugar content, so it is not so sweet. Will blog the recipe sometime in the near future.

WMW: Try hula hoops for tiny waist :)

Lyrical Lemongrass said...

wmw: good food, anytime oso can eat one. nope..we will never have 22" waistlines no matter how much we will it.

k.t.x: the greens are actually the rocket salad. I found it filling. I was able to skip lunch and my next meal was dinner. No, brassware not for sale. But a lot of other things on the shelves were. eg. the bottle of water (1st pic) featured.

lee ping: we've progressed quite a bit over the 10 years. We're proud of our tree houses, we are. My pet gorilla and baboon will agree with you. Yes, do write about your tiramisu...would love to see and read about it!
