Famous Seremban Favourites (FSF) Restaurant

char siu at FSF

I'm a char siu slut. I love all types of char siu (barbequed pork). But the best ones are usually the ones that are sweet (but not necessarily sticky like, say, the one found in Salak South), slightly charred and melt-in-your-mouth. Now how does one explain "melt-in-your-mouth" in relation to meat? Well, imagine that you're toothless. This type of meat doesn't require much chewing, but slowly disintegrates in your mouth as you bite (not literally, if you're toothless, but I suppose you can use your gums in such a case!) into the tender char siu bits.

Boo_licious introduced a wonderful char siu to me. It fulfilled all my criteria for good char siu, and life has never been the same since.

hakka mee

Another great find at this kopitiam is hakka mee. The dish looks simple enough. Yellow, egg noodles covered with minced pork and topped with chopped spring onions. Don't be misled by the appearance. Despite its simplicity, this is one tasty dish.

fishball at FSF

One can also find good fishballs here. Pillow-soft, I have no complains about the fishballs.

I'm surprised you haven't included her in the Miss Char Siu Pageant yet. I demand a re-count.

that's the power of macro, man. hehe.

where there's good food, cannot wait to blog about it wan.

so much char siu, so little time.

the best char siu is definitely in KL, man! As for male char siu slut equivalent, a slut is a slut no matter wat gender, mah.

I hope u get to try it one day. There's a map, so u can't really lose your way. :-) And thanks...I didn't know it was coming out on Sunday...hubby woke me up by reading aloud from the newspapers. hehe.

thanks! It's nice to see my name in the newspapers. :-)
As for the 6-0 win, we were celebrating my bday (still!), so there was cake and alcohol. Pretty good. hehe.

precious pea:

yeah, remember the first time we ate it? like putting heaven in the mouth. haha. My blog post appeared in the Sunday Star. :-)

you may thank me in kind. :-) Why FBB only?? Why not me????

slut, pimp, all the same as long as can eat char siu all day long. haha.

Let me refer to to the X-rated blogs....

awwwwww....come come...I feed u char siu, k...don't cry ar....

u foreigners got weird taste wan la. hahaha. but yeah, those pickled chillies are always damn good to eat, even on their own, yah. :-) My mum eats pickled green chillies with everything!

i dont deny that KL boast a lot of great food, but u must realize that it is all imported from other towns/states.

no wor, so far to me, a "slut" is only meant for WOMEN.

Lyrical Lemongrass said...

let's put it this way. the food that's been brought in from other states have been improved, so that explains why KL has such good food. :-P Other states may have their speciality, but KL shouldn't be looked down on when it comes to, :-)

As for the use of the word slut, you're asking for trouble, aren't u? I'll refrain from commenting on that one. :-)

k.t.x said...

lol on the first

thanks for the second

whatever words/languages or sounds or aromas/colors or shreiks/urrgghs or whiffs you express here will have our pure gluttony support/ok so shoot as straight or as crooked as you want !
so when can we have a suckling pig nex to beat the mother of all roasts ?

Anonymous said...

The char siew looks so luscious...never had non-red-colored char siew before ler!
The hakka mee - loved the minced pork with noodles. In S'pore, I think it's called Bakchor mee...with minced pork and sometimes with a dash of black vinegar.

Anonymous said...

Wow, love your big big picture of food. Almost made me lick my computer screen :P

teckiee said...

hahahaha my colleague saw the fishballs and said it reminded him of testical implants!!

No wonder they say there's a char siew craze and me posting on char siew though different place. I like the char siew here, I actually prefer this to Meng Kee!

Lyrical Lemongrass said...

wmw: yeps, me too....this is more melt-in-your-mouth as compared to Meng Kee.

No big deal-the char siew is not as good as the one at the Sect 17 PJ wantan mee stall. The shop is dirty and the service disorganized.
This blogger was "paid" or not such a discerning food critic, I think

Lyrical Lemongrass said...

Anonymous (?): Do realise that one man's meat is another man's poison, and no matter how good (or bad) a restaurant is, there will always be differing opinions. Have never professed to be a "food critic", though. :-P Will check out the PJ Sect 17 wantan mee stall as I'm always on the lookout for a good char siew. Thanks for the recommendation! Oh, btw, I'm not paid to do food reviews. Which is why I end up poor every month.
